According to mobile market analytics company AppMagic, which informed The Wall Street Journal this week, Apple mandated that prominent AI companies like OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and xAI contribute to the Apple App Store levy, involving a 30% share of subscription revenues in the initial year and 15% subsequently. AppMagic calculated that generative AI applications provided Apple with $900 million in fees during 2025.
